ITINERARY
9:30
A.M. Party gathers at The
Raford House to talk about the days plans and to begin discussions
about the Northern California wine country.
10:15 A.M. Depart Raford House for Iron Horse Vineyards. Meet Jackie
Tisthammer, Tasting Program Manager. Jackie will lead a tasting of Iron Horse
wines. This will include a tasting of their Viognier (vee-oh-NYAY). This is a white Rhone
Valley varietal that promises to rival Chardonnay as a premium white California wine.
Because the winery only produces 400 cases, six bottles of this wine have been reserved
for us in case it sells out before we arrive.
11:30 A.M.
Depart for Nalle Winery Dry Creek Valley. Meet Doug Nalle, Owner
and Winemaker. Doug will lead a tour of his winery and conduct a tasting of his
award winning Zinfandel wines.
12:50 A.M.
Travel to Armida Winery and meet John Fisher, Tasting Room
Manager. John will conduct a tasting of Armida wines.
Also meet Jack Florence, Sr., Wine Grape
Grower and Author who will join us for lunch. After lunch, Jack will share with
us some of the history of the Dry Creek Valley, as chronicled in his book, A
Noble Heritage.
1:30 P.M. Lunch on the
deck of Armida Winery overlooking the Dry Creek Valley. The meal catered by Ron
Edwards, Owner, Classic Kitchen
Associates.
Jack and Carolyn Vore of The Raford House will
serve hors doeuvres designed to match the Christopher Creek wines.
6:45 P.M. Jesse Shaw
departs and expresses his thanks for your being a guest of J. Shaw & Company.
You are now on his mailing list and will periodically receive a newsletter to remind you
of this day and to lure you back to the best wine and food in Northern California.
7:45 P.M. Depart for Chez Marie
restaurant in nearby Forrestville. Meet chef-owner Shirley Palmisano and
partner Angie Lewis. They have dedicated half of their restaurant for
your dinner this evening. County French is the mainstay of the restaurant. |
